Planters - Characteristics

Silver Gray

This most versatile light weight stone is known as block pumice. A true silver gray color naturalizes landscapes and communes with all styles of architecture. A relatively smooth texture. Is easily shaped and carved with household tools.

Charcoal

A variety of obsidian stone, the deep charcoal color makes a dramatic statement wherever it is employed. Available as boulders and veneers. Charcoal Featherock is light in weight. Can be shaped and sculpted with common handtools.

Silver gray Featherock is unicellular in structure. Charcoal Featherock has a partially expanded core and skin. These stones will absorb about 20% of their weight in water. In a sufficient volume of water they will float. Featherock is about one-fifth the weight of granite and other natural stones. Ton-for-ton it provides five times the coverage. These stone will not readily spall or fracture under freeze-thaw conditions. Featherock is the most easily shaped of all the carvable natural stones.

Other members of the Featherock family

Buckskin

With a prune skin and a palette of rich brown coloring with variegated tones of tan, pink and black, Buckskin provides authority and harmony through boulders and veneers to landscapes, homes and commercial buildings.

Though heavier than silver gray and charcoal Featherock, Buckskin and Brindle are light in weight and share many of the desirable properties and advantages of Featherock. The bold texture and earthy colors of Buckskin and Brindle offer a distinctive alternative.

Brindle

A rustic stone that blends with and tames any environment. Lightweight with a bold texture, Brindle’s rich earthtones of dark brown, rust and black offer permanence, solidarity and natural beauty.

Sierra Sunset

A majestic architectural stone for contemporary and traditional interior and exterior applications. Random shaped, Sierra Sunsets’ opalescent colors of silver, grey, pink and tan flow over irregular surface planes.

Heavier than Featherock but provides better coverage than other natural stone veneers. With a 2-7 inch thickness its facings afford good insulating and acoustical values.
